The Gujarat government will release 198 million cubic metres (MCM) of water from the Kadana Dam to irrigate standing Kharif crops across approximately 80,000 hectares in the Mahi command area covering Kheda and Anand districts, as the state grapples with a significant rainfall deficit and lower-than-average sowing of several crops.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved the release of 5,500 cusecs of water from October 10, according to a statement issued by the Directorate of Information, Gandhinagar, on October 9.
