Paddy keeps his cool as charity challenge reaches Cork

The Donegal man’s journey around Ireland is about to end.

Paddy Conaghan, 81, is walking and diving into the cold waters of Ireland to earn Gemma’s Legacy of Hope.

This week, he is away from his home in Clonakilty, Co. Cork, but they are making a lot of friends along the way.

Paddy set off for his predicament in early December, walking for the first time on Athport Beach in Arranmore. He is courageous for the most important local reasons (click here to submit). Gemma’s Legacy of Hope, established in honor of Burtonport’s mother, Gemma Boyle, is a local counseling service that helps children between the ages of 5, young and old throughout Ross’s education.

While in Ring Pier, a man (pictured above) called Frank O Donnell from Leffin Dungloe and his daughter Maeve went to meet Paddy. Frank is currently working for Dunmanway company, Cahalane Bros., builders. They talked and it turned out that Paddy was working with his father Colm & Colm actually helped Paddy blow up the floor of his house in 1976.

Paddy, a former “tiger” and fisherman, was trained for one year before embarking on his journey. He deliberately decided to start in December to make it even harder. His message is spreading across the country, and he has received it generously in his place, where kind people give him nice beds and hot drinks.
