Flipdish becomes Ireland’s latest unicorn



Flipdish, Europe’s leading digital hosting and hospitality platform, has received c. $ 100m under Tencent. The fund provides the company with more than $ 1.25bn in cash and follows $ 48.5m from Tiger Global Management in February 2021.

The money will be used to expand global operations, provide R&D funding for services that enable consumers to make better use of hospitality and to support new customers such as theaters, stadiums and airports.

Founded by Brothers Conor and James McCarthy in 2015, Flipdish allows hospitality businesses to deliver customer experiences that drive business growth. Unicorn offers expertise that supports QR & on-table ordering, online ordering for collecting and shipping, customized kiosks, customer loyalty, and digital advertising.

Tencent has joined the owners of Flipdish Tiger Global, Global Founders Capital, Elkstone, Enterprise Ireland and Growing Capital.

Flipdish operates in 25 countries including France, Germany, Ireland, Spain, the UK and the US, with thousands of independent restaurant customers including well-known Irish leaders such as Dunnes Stores, Romayo’s, Base Pizza, Bombay Pantry, The White Moose Cafe. and Mao as well as major international brands such as Subway, Cojean, and Galeries Lafayette. Flipdish also works with some of the world’s largest ghost kitchen companies, affiliated with TGI Friday’s, White Castle, Dickey’s BBQ Pit, and more.

Flipdish has seen economic growth in several markets in 2021, encouraged by restaurant owners who bring their online home delivery opportunities, instead of relying on the catering market, quickly following their responses such as QR Code Order & Pay, and growing for new look like dark kitchens.
