Coastal towns that are expected to withstand Cyclone Cody’s storms are now able to see “dangerous” winds and rainfall passing along their shores as the storm begins to head east.
A typhoon from Fiji was expected to bring waves of up to 6 meters, strong winds of more than 70kmh, and torrential rains up to 50mm every three hours.
Now, with the ensuing typhoon in the eastern Eastern Cape, meteorologist Mmathapelo Makgabutlane says damage has been reduced by a slower chance of wind and rain – although maritime hazards will remain.
“Cody Typhoon is going east for the next few days and most of the country will flee the storm,” Makgabutlane said.

“However, we are still anticipating major eruptions and tidal waves on the east coast, which could cause tidal waves, tidal waves and flooding.”
He also said the climb has already begun in Northland, and is expected to follow east Sunday.
The highest risk in Northland to the Bay of Plenty is from Saturday to Monday, while the highest risk of major waves from Gisborne to Wairarapa is from Sunday to Tuesday.
Clocks and strong winds are still in operation in parts of the Eastern Cape on Monday.
Thames-Coromandel emergency services supervisor Garry Towler said Cody’s recovery comes as a relief to the region hoping to withstand the storm.
He also said that he is planning to do harm, but now it seems that the coast is not safe.
As a precautionary measure he said the council still offered the idea of people to find a safe place with items that will last 24 hours, including those that are provided if the lights go out temporarily.

Following the storm in May there was a beach erosion at the Mercury Bay Boating Club
Campervans and motorhomes have been asked to leave the beach and for the next two days and park in two safe places; Mercury Bay Sports Park in Whitianga, or shoppers carpark near Goldfields Mall in Thames.
“We’re still going to have a storm and there’s been some kind of rain but there’s nothing to worry about,” Towler said.
Meanwhile, across the country the lack of wind and rain could leave holidaymakers worsening.
The chairman of Mount Maunganui Surf Lifesaving Club, Jamie Troughton, said the combination of lack of wind and rain could put swimmers and swimmers at greater risk.
“The situation in the east means that the coastal areas will be better off without wind and rain, but we will still have big waves,” Troughton said.
“It’s a very good storm, because people will think because the weather looks good the water will also be, but it is not.”
On Saturday, he said, the crew had to move the flag to a protected area along the coast due to the number of bullets.
Although he still did 50 bans and saved 12.
Although no one was a problem, he said, as Cyclone Cody misses the chance to save more lives.
“There’s plenty of water floating around. The waves will look good and attractive, but there are big waves along the shoreline that make for a very nice place. ”
He urged coastal walkers in the coming season not to overestimate their ability to swim.
“This has already been a very busy summer for us. In the first few weeks of the year we went as many rescuers almost as we did last season.
“Our sea is amazing, and it’s a good stadium, but it doesn’t take in prisoners.”
