He said: “Mum has now gained her angel wings. She passed away peacefully last night.
“Thank you everyone for the generous donations and kind words of support.”
Kevin was due to fly from Glasgow to Las Vegas this morning to be by his mum’s hospital bed after she was diagnosed with aggressive cancer.
Celtic superfan Ellen had traveled from Springburn near Glasgow for a 10-day holiday with pals to attend the Hoops event.
Just days into her trip she began suffering from pain near her kidneys and extreme fatigue.
She was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Southern Nevada last Thursday.
A scan found cancer in Ellen’s gallbladder and she was taken away for emergency surgery to remove the organ.
But when doctors operated, they found the cancer had already spread to Ellen’s lungs, kidneys and liver.

Kevin received a heartbreaking phone call from a surgeon at the hospital asking him to fly to Las Vegas to be with his mum.
Tributes have been paid to Ellen by heartbroken friends.
Anne Shaw replied: “Such sad news, Kevin.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Your mum was a lovely lady, best wishes, Anne and Tich.”
Christopher Nelson added: “I’ve known Ellen and Kevin for as long as I can remember, she was a great laugh to be around, never seen her without a smile on her face.

Kevin’s auntie has started a fundraising page in the hope of being able to raise cash for his accommodation.
